In most of Japanese school,especially primary school and junior high school, Chorus contest takes place. There were five classes in my school when I was a junior high school student. And The Chorus team consists of all of class members.
Even if you don’t want to join this contest, you don’t have any choices to refuse. The words “refuse” or “reject”or something like turning down have never come to our mind. Most of students don’t think so.
Don’t worry, It is fun to sing a song with your classmates.

The Most Famous song “Ano Subarashii Ai wo Mouichido”
The music teacher recommends their songs which each class members sing at chorus contest. And then, students start to practice their songs. These songs differ between each classes.
I would like to introduce you “Ano Subarashii Ai wo Mouichido”. I think this song is the most famous song in school chorus contest. If japanese people hear this song, It reminds us our school life or our childhood.
This song was released in 1971 as a phonograph record. Osamu Kitayama wrote the lyric, Kazuhiko Kato composed this song.
Some people would say that “Tsubasa wo Kudasai” is the most famous song, but This song have been used by some Animations like “Evangelion”, so some people are made remember these animation.
In case of japanese chorus contest in school, “Ano Subarashii Ai wo Mouichido” is the most famous song.
Directly translating to english, “Ano Subarashii Ai wo Mouichido” will be “That wonderful loves once again”
I try to translate lyrics as exactly as I can, and post another lyrics that Hugh Jackman, a famous Holly Wood movie star, sang this song on Japanese TV commercials in english.
